Straws

Straws

Our straws are made from 100% natural materials (wheat, grass, bamboo). This means they won’t linger in landfills, polluting our land or oceans.

WHEAT STRAWS

Wheat Straws are made from natural wheat stems and are 100% biodegradable, which means they won’t linger in landfills, polluting our land or oceans.

Length : 14.5 / 18 / 21.5 cm | Diameter : 3-4 mm

Craft box: 100 pcs/ 500 pcs

Manufacturing Process

The wheat drinking straws are made entirely from natural wheat stems, so they are completely biodegradable.

The factory buys the wheat stems from the local farmers at a fair price.

Their workers select the wheat stems according to their length and diameter and separate them accordingly. Then, other workers peel off the outer skin of the wheat stems and send them for the first round of cleaning/washing.

Next, workers wash the wheat stems with clean water for the first time and then let them dry naturally. When the wheat stems are about 30% humid, they are sent for cutting to out cutting machine.

After cutting, workers select the wheat straws according to the buyers’ requirements. Then, the straws are sent for a second round of washing, using boiled, purified water.

Finally, the wheat straws are dried in a dryer machine and when the straws are 100% dry, they are put in a disinfection cabinet, where the ozone method is used to disinfect the wheat straws.

It is ensured that workers wear gloves to do the counting after the sterilization. They tie pieces of wheat straws together and put them in carton boxes, which are then stored in a cool, dry place.

During packing, there is a last round of quality checking before putting the straws inside the box.

GRASS STRAWS

It doesn’t get any more green than these grass straws! Grass straws are edible, compostable, free of chemicals and preservatives, and affordable.

Length: 22cm Diameter: 4-7mm

Craft Bag: 100 pieces

Manufacturing Process

Step 1: Harvesting
Farmers handpick the mature grass that meets the straw making specifications.

Step 2: Washing
After harvesting, the grass is thoroughly washed with water to remove any dirt. Workers process the washed grass in a sterile environment.

Step 3: Cutting
The machine is set to cut at 20 cm segments.

Step 4: Cleaning
A special tool is used to scrub the interior of the grass so as to remove any remaining impurities. The grass is subjected to another round of washing before the drying process.

Step 5: Washing again
After removing the remaining impurities, the grass is subjected to another round of washing before the drying process.

Step 6: Drying
The straws are then oven-dried to a low moisture content.

Step 7: Disinfecting
After drying, the straws are transferred to a UV irradiation room in order to be sanitized. There the last remaining bacteria and mold are removed.

Step 8: Checking and packing
After the drying process, the workers check the standard grass straws and pack according to customer requirements.

BAMBOO STRAWS

Our straws are made from 100% natural bamboo. They are the best eco-friendly alternative to plastic, steel or glass straws! They are reusable, you can find different types and even personalize them!

Manufacturing Process
  • The bamboo is cut and left to firm up and dry naturally in the sun for a few days before being re-located to the farm where it is cut down to size and then crafted into smaller, smoother pieces.
  • The bamboo stems are then cut from their natural state into lengths suitable for straws. … Once the stems have been cut, they then gets sanded, filed and etched to give them a smooth and natural finish.
